I’m an Artist and an Entrepreneur

Dodji Gbedemah is the proprietor of Kente Royal Gallery in Harlem NY. He is a gallerist, curator, visual artist as well as a musician. He graduated from NYU with a business degree and has many years of Entrepreneurship,  Leadership and Management. He decided to open his gallery after working many years for companies such as Zipcar,  Uber and Doordash. He was inspired to put his business acumen and artistic vision to the service of the Community when he noticed the lack of representation of artists of the African Diaspora  Since opening Kente Royal Gallery (KRG) in 2019, He has worked with many artists to create solo and group exhibitions. The list of artists include Gabrielle Baker (Painter), Bertram Knight (Photographer), William Daniels (Quilter) and more.

His current exhibition is a collaboration with Artist Jason Moss. The title of the show is “PIVOT” and is on display at Kente Royal Gallery from May 14, 2022 to June 11, 2022. Dodji’s works are deeply rooted in West African Culture as he draws on The Adinkra Symbols to create abstract and figurative paintings on stretched canvases using acrylic paint.
